The Premier League Matchweek 36 clash between Liverpool and Chelsea kicked off with a moment of history. In just the 6th minute, the Reds' teenage sensation Rio Ngumoha delivered a pinpoint assist to Ryan Gravenberch, opening the scoring in the contest. With that decisive play, the Merseysiders took an early 1-0 lead. This assist marked a significant milestone for the young prodigy.
Details: According to Squawka, at 17 years and 253 days old, Rio Ngumoha became the third-youngest player in Premier League history to either score or provide an assist in a match against Chelsea.
Only two players rank higher than Ngumoha among this elite group of young talents: Newcastle midfielder Lewis Miley, who made his mark in November 2023 at 17 years and 208 days, and the all-time record holder—Liverpool legend James Milner, who stunned the Blues back in December 2002 at just 16 years and 358 days old.
As of the 25th minute, Liverpool still hold a 1-0 advantage.
For the record: Xabi Alonso has agreed to take charge of Chelsea.
