After his departure from Barcelona, Xavi Hernández has been without a job, remaining in Catalonia for the time being. However, his break from coaching could soon come to an end, with a potential return to the Middle East. The Qatar national team is reportedly considering him for the head coach position.

Details: Following his exit from Barcelona, Xavi took a year-long sabbatical, stating that he had no immediate plans to return to coaching. However, those plans may be changing. According to Qatari outlet Al Raya, the Spaniard is in talks regarding a potential appointment as the head coach of the Qatar national team.

Currently, the team is managed by fellow Catalan, Tintín Márquez. Despite winning the Asian Cup earlier this year, the team's recent performances have not satisfied the Qatar Football Association. In their last four matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Qatar has managed only four points, placing them fourth in their group.

Márquez is under pressure, and if dismissed, Xavi is seen as the top candidate to replace him.

Reminder: Xavi is no stranger to coaching in Qatar. From 2019 to 2021, he managed Al Sadd, where he secured seven trophies.
