Very troubling news for both Hansi Flick and Didier Deschamps.
Details: According to Fabrizio Romano on his X social media page, 27-year-old Barcelona and France center-back Jules Koundé has suffered an injury to the middle third of the biceps femoris in his left thigh during yesterday's Copa del Rey match against Atlético Madrid.
It is reported that there is currently no specific recovery timetable for Koundé. However, if his body does not respond well to treatment, his rehabilitation could take several weeks.
This means, in the worst-case scenario, Koundé could miss the start of the 2026 World Cup, although at the moment this is not being considered.
This season, Jules Koundé has played 40 matches for Barcelona, scoring 3 goals and providing 4 assists.
It has also been revealed that Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde will be out for four weeks due to a distal hamstring (biceps femoris) injury in his left thigh.
