Whistle on hold, but football never lets go! Anthony Taylor lands a new job

Anthony Taylor is embarking on a new chapter in his footballing journey.

Details: The former English Premier League referee has been officially named Director of Elite Refereeing at the Central Referee Committee of the Turkish Football Federation.

In his new role, the 47-year-old Englishman will be responsible for the strategic and technical development of Turkey's top referees. He will also focus on training officials and upgrading the entire refereeing system to meet UEFA and FIFA standards.

The appointment comes shortly after Taylor wrapped up a refereeing career spanning more than two decades. His final match was at the 2026 World Cup, where he officiated the Round of 16 clash between Portugal and Spain.

It's worth noting that during his career, Anthony Taylor officiated 831 matches, including 432 Premier League fixtures.
