Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba has strongly criticized the use of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) after the Elephants were knocked out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup by Norway.

The Ivorians saw their World Cup journey come to an end following a 2-1 defeat to Norway in the Round of 32, but it was a controversial refereeing decision that dominated the post-match reaction.

Drogba was left furious after Nicolas Pépé was denied what many believed should have been a penalty. Despite VAR being available to review the incident, the officials decided not to award a spot-kick.

The former Chelsea and Ivory Coast captain took to social media platform X to express his frustration with the decision.

"Disgraceful, that penalty not called on Nicolas Pépé, pfffffff, what's the point of VAR?!??!
