“We know we’ll be up against a very good team,” says Pape Thiaw on Senegal’s match against France
Aware of the quality of the opposition, the manager of the Lions of Teranga nevertheless believes his team has what it takes to compete with the French side.
On the eve of Senegal’s match against France at the World Cup currently taking place in the United States, Canada and Mexico, the Senegalese manager held a press conference on Monday 15 June. Speaking to the media, the Senegalese manager first emphasised the importance of his team’s preparation.
As the Lions of Teranga take on the French team on Tuesday 16 June, Pape Thiaw makes no secret of his respect. He acknowledges the exceptional talent of the French players, whilst pointing out that Senegal also has a squad capable of making a difference.
“The warm-up matches have served us well. We know we’ll be up against a very good team; we’re heading into a very difficult match, but we’re prepared. France have world-class players, but so do we. We’re relying on our team spirit, and we hope we’ll be up to the task tomorrow.
The match against France is symbolic; it means a lot, but we’ll keep it strictly sporting as we go out to secure this victory and continue our journey in this World Cup.”
