Pape Thiaw remains confident despite Senegal’s defeat to France
“I’m not worried”
The Teranga Lions’ manager is convinced his team can bounce back.
Senegal got off to a poor start at the World Cup. Facing France on Tuesday 16 June in Group I, the Lions of Teranga put up a fierce fight but were unable to avoid defeat. They lost 3–1.
This result complicates matters in Group I, but does not jeopardise Senegal’s chances of qualifying. At a post-match press conference, Pape Thiaw appeared calm and optimistic.
“I’m not worried. We have competitive players and players with character in this squad. We know what we need to do: pick up points to qualify. The match against Norway will be extremely important and we’ll have to win it. We’re convinced that we still have every chance of qualifying.”
