“We have no excuses”: Issa Diop says ahead of Lesotho v Morocco

Morocco have travelled to South Africa to face Lesotho on matchday two of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The match is scheduled for Tuesday 29 September at the Toyota Stadium. But at a pre-match press conference on Monday 28 September, Issa Diop expressed his confidence.

The Moroccan defender believes the Atlas Lions have what it takes to approach this match in the best possible frame of mind. Issa Diop highlighted the role of the coaching staff in the team’s preparation.

According to him, the staff’s knowledge of the players enables the squad to adapt quickly to the demands of the match. He spoke about the team’s level of preparation, stating that this must translate into performance on the pitch.

“It’s easier for us to adapt because we have a coaching staff who know the players very well and provide us with all the information we need. As the manager said, we have no excuses; we’re very well prepared, and we hope to win this match.”

Morocco got off to a winning start in the qualifiers with a victory over Gabon on the first matchday.
