Morocco Beat Lesotho 2-0 to Maintain Perfect AFCON 2027 Qualifying Start

Morocco continued their strong start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers by defeating Lesotho 2-0 and moving onto six points at the top end of Group A.

The Atlas Lions were forced to be patient for much of the first half, with Lesotho proving difficult to break down.

Morocco eventually found the breakthrough just before the interval when Brahim Diaz struck to give the visitors a 1-0 lead at half-time.

Lesotho came out after the break looking for a way back into the game, while Morocco responded by adding more attacking quality to their side, with Abdessamad Ezzalzouli and Soufiane Rahimi coming on.

The hosts' resistance was finally broken again in the 82nd minute. Azzedine Ounahi put the result beyond doubt after being set up by Rahimi, giving Morocco a comfortable finish to the match.

The result extends Morocco's perfect record in the qualifiers. They had already defeated Gabon 2-0 in their opening Group A fixture, meaning they have scored four goals and conceded none across their first two matches.

For Lesotho, the difficult start continues. The Crocodiles have now lost both of their opening qualifiers, following their 2-1 defeat to Niger in the first round of matches, leaving them still searching for their first points.
