“We are making history,” says Krepin Diatta ahead of Senegal’s clash with France
Buoyed by their performances in recent years, the Lions of Teranga aim to continue making their mark on African and Senegalese football.
Ahead of Senegal’s World Cup match against France on Tuesday 16 June, Krepin Diatta shared his thoughts. The Senegalese winger knows the task will not be easy against one of the tournament favourites, who have reached the final in the last two editions. However, Krepin Diatta is convinced that Senegal have what it takes to continue their rise on the international stage.
“We know that France is a very strong team. They have been finalists in the last two World Cups, so we are aware that it will be a difficult match. But for our part, we are in the process of writing the finest chapters in the history of Senegalese football.”
Krepin Diatta also highlighted the importance of experience within the squad. In his view, the presence of former internationals who lived through the 2002 clash between Senegal and France is a valuable asset for this generation, which in turn dreams of achieving a memorable run.
“It’s always important to have veterans in the squad. They lived through the 2002 epic and their advice is invaluable to us. They play an important role and we’re here to listen to them.”
