Walid Sadi Confirms Algeria’s Return to CAF Executive Committee Walid Sadi Confirms Algeria’s Return to CAF Executive Committee

Walid Sadi, President of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) and Minister of Sports, has confirmed that Algeria is on the right track to rejoining the CAF Executive Committee.

He emphasized the importance of Algeria’s presence in international football bodies, given its growing sports infrastructure.

Speaking about the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) draw, which placed Algeria in Group E alongside Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan, Sadi stressed that the main objective is to reach the knockout stage after failing to progress past the group stage in the last two editions.

As part of the federation’s reforms, Sadi launched a project to build a hotel at the Sidi Moussa National Team Training Center, aiming to reduce expenses and achieve financial self-sufficiency.

The General Assembly also approved the 2025 budget, amounting to 60 billion Algerian centimes, with expectations of generating a financial surplus for the second consecutive year.

Sadi gently chastised former Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi during the General Assembly, emphasizing the importance of backing the new head coach, Vladimir Petković, and maintaining a tranquil atmosphere for the national team as they get ready for AFCON and the 2026 World Cup qualifying round.
