Walid Regragui Scouts Players as Amine Adli’s Return Strengthens Morocco’s World Cup Hopes
Moroccan winger Amine Adli has finally returned to action after several months out due to injury. The 24-year-old played his first minutes since October, coming on in the 85th minute during Bayer Leverkusen’s 0-0 draw against Bayern Munich.
Adli suffered a fractured left fibula in a Champions League match against Brest, which required surgery and a long rehabilitation. Despite this setback, Bayer Leverkusen extended his contract until June 2028, showing their trust in him.
Meanwhile, Morocco’s coach Walid Regragui is currently in Europe evaluating players before finalizing his squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Niger and Tanzania in March.
He is keeping a careful eye on players like Maroan Sannadi Harrouch (Athletic Bilbao), Chemsdine Talbi (Club Bruges), and Anass Salah-Eddine (AS Roma). Regragui is also anticipated to observe Brahim Díaz and Nayef Aguerd at Real Madrid vs. Real Sociedad on February 26.
The Atlas Lions currently top Group E with nine points, maintaining a perfect record in the World Cup qualifiers. Regragui’s final squad list will be announced on March 13, ahead of their training camp at Mohammed VI Complex in Rabat.
