In the second-round group stage game of the Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco faced Mali, and a contentious incident occurred at the end of the first half.
Details: In the final minutes of the first half, Brahim Díaz attempted to get past a defender who handled the ball. The referees paused the game to review the VAR. The head referee decided to award a penalty, which Díaz himself converted.
In Morocco’s first-round match, they were also awarded a penalty, but Rahimi failed to convert it. Still, Morocco won the game 2-0.
In addition, just a few minutes earlier, another controversial moment had occurred in the match, related to a penalty awarded against Bafana Bafana.
