Joey Barton continues to find himself embroiled in scandals even off the football pitch. The former Manchester City and Newcastle player is now facing legal action from BBC and ITV presenters, reports Bild.

Cheshire Police have confirmed that Barton is being charged with sending malicious messages between January 3 and March 20, 2024. The plaintiffs are ITV presenters Lucy Ward and Eni Aluko.

Previously, Barton posted on X, likening Ward and Aluko to Fred and Rose West, infamous British serial killers responsible for at least 10 murders. Understandably, Aluko and Ward were outraged by the offensive comparison.

BBC presenter Jeremy Vine was another target of Barton's "jokes." Barton referred to Vine as a "big bike nonce" (with "nonce" being a British slang term for a pedophile), prompting Vine to file a lawsuit against the ex-footballer in May.

In typical fashion, Barton dismissed the accusations as nonsense and expressed surprise that people don’t understand his humor. However, if found guilty, he could face not only hefty fines but also potential imprisonment.
