Unexpected twist: Quinton Fortune calls on Manchester United legend to replace Carrick
Former Manchester United midfielder Quinton Fortune of South Africa has backed Roy Keane’s return amid mounting pressure on Michael Carrick. In his view, the Irishman’s leadership qualities could turn the situation around at Old Trafford.
“I played alongside Roy, and he was an incredible leader. He drove every team toward success and raised the standards for everyone. He demanded perfection and helped me become a better player,” — Fortune said in an interview with BOYLE Sports.
Following their 4-1 defeat to Como in the Champions League, the Red Devils have now gone seven matches without a win in all competitions. Carrick is expected to remain in charge for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth, but the result could influence the manager’s future.
Fortune also urged the club’s hierarchy to make every effort to sign Harry Kane. The South African is convinced that the England captain would be a perfect fit for the Red Devils.
“Whatever it takes, Manchester United must get Kane as soon as possible. He is exactly what they need. Give him a pass and he will score. It’s that simple,” the former club player stressed.
