Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes’ home in Cheshire was burgled while the footballer was in Italy for the Champions League match against Como, which ended in a 4-1 defeat for the English side.

According to The Sun, three masked burglars broke into the £4 million mansion and stole valuables, including designer jewellery. Fortunately, the Portuguese star’s wife Ana Pinho and their two young children were not at home. It is reported, however, that the footballer’s family has been left devastated by the incident.

Investigators are examining the possibility that the criminals may have studied the property in advance through Instagram posts. An interior designer hired by Fernandes had previously shared photos of the six-bedroom house, as well as a selfie with the footballer outside the mansion. The post, which was widely circulated among Manchester United fans, was later deleted.

According to police, the alarm was raised by a neighbour who spotted suspicious people in the garden. By the time officers arrived around ten minutes later, the suspects had already fled. Detectives are now examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area.
