Fenerbahçe has surged to the front of the pack in the race for Atlético Madrid striker Alexander Sørloth. The Turkish giants are determined to bolster their attack and are ready to pay around €40 million for the Norwegian forward.

According to Matteo Moretto, as cited by beIN Sports, Fenerbahçe is now closer than anyone else to signing the player. The 29-year-old striker is under contract with Atlético until June 2028, but the Madrid club is open to a sale at the right price.

Sørloth's potential departure is a major factor for Atlético. The Madrid side plans to use the funds from his sale to strengthen the squad, with a particular focus on securing the transfer of Dušan Vlahović.

The Serbian forward is set to become a free agent once his contract with Juventus expires. Atlético has already started talks regarding his possible move, but the club needs to free up space on the wage bill to complete the deal.

This means Sørloth's transfer to Fenerbahçe could trigger a chain reaction, ultimately bringing Vlahović to Madrid. For the Turkish side, the Norwegian is expected to be a key signing ahead of the new season.
