What is even going on?! New details revealed in the scandal between Atlético and Álvarez
The conflict between Julián Álvarez and Atlético has taken a new turn. According to the Argentine forward’s camp, the Madrid club’s management initially asked the player to publicly announce his desire to leave the team, but then reversed course and refused to discuss his departure.
According to journalist Martín Arevalo, Álvarez had informed Atlético of his intention to leave even before any public statements were made. Club representatives allegedly advised the striker to speak openly about his wish so that fans would understand the transfer initiative came from the player himself, not from the Madrid side.
Álvarez followed this advice and, during the World Cup, made his desire to change clubs public for the first time. However, after that, the Colchoneros’ management took a hard line, insisting the striker was not for sale.

This sudden shift sparked serious discontent in the Argentine’s entourage. According to Arevalo, the player’s representatives believe the club "deceived" them, and that Álvarez and his agents now feel "betrayed and misled."
Meanwhile, Atlético CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín has repeatedly stated that the club has no intention of parting ways with the forward. Now, the next development depends on whether both sides can sit down at the negotiating table and find a solution.
