Transfer nears as Bastoni open to Liverpool move in 2026
Liverpool could get the opportunity to sign one of the world’s top centre-backs—Alessandro Bastoni from Inter.
Details: According to TeamTalk, the 26-year-old Italian is now ready to reconsider his stance and is open to a move abroad in 2026. The Anfield club views him as a potential successor to Virgil van Dijk, whose contract expires in the summer of 2027.
Only Europe’s elite clubs are in the race for Bastoni. In addition to Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea are monitoring the situation, as are continental giants Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and PSG. The competition is set to be fierce, especially given Bastoni’s status and consistent performances at the highest level.
Alessandro Bastoni has played for Inter since 2019, making 278 appearances for the club and winning seven trophies, including two Serie A titles and featuring in two Champions League finals. His contract runs until 2028, and Transfermarkt values him at €80 million.
This season, Bastoni has played twenty matches for the Milan club across all competitions, scoring once and providing five assists.
Reminder: Real has advanced negotiations with former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp.
