Yesterday, MLS club Philadelphia Union shared the heartbreaking news of the passing of their 25-year-old goalkeeper, Holden Trent.
Details: The news of Trent’s death was announced on Philadelphia Union’s official website. Currently, no information regarding the cause of his passing has been released. According to Yahoo, Trent was admitted to the intensive care unit on Thursday. Out of respect for Trent’s family and friends, the club has chosen not to disclose further details.

While he was a remarkable player and fierce competitor, he was, even more importantly, a dedicated son, brother, fiancé, and teammate who brought out the best in everyone around him. He embodied the true meaning of determination, loyalty, and perseverance, and he will be deeply missed. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, fiancée, and friends," the club stated.
Added: Other MLS clubs, including Portland Timbers, FC Cincinnati, San Jose Earthquakes, Sporting Kansas City, New England Revolution, and New York Red Bulls, have also expressed their condolences.
Trent was drafted by Philadelphia Union in the 2023 MLS Draft out of High Point University. Over two seasons, he appeared in six matches for Union’s second team in MLS Next Pro.
