After his contract expired at the end of last season, German football legend Mats Hummels joined AS Roma in early September. Yet, nearly two months in, he has yet to make his debut for the Italian club, and recent reports suggest he could depart as early as this winter.

Details: Hummels signed a one-year deal with Roma, but the team has played eight matches since, with the defender left on the bench for seven and omitted from the squad entirely for one.

Recently, Roma's head coach Ivan Jurić stated that a player's profile and status are irrelevant to him, as he selects his lineup purely based on tactical needs.

According to Nicolo Schira, Hummels may indeed exit Roma during the winter transfer window.

At 35, the German icon still has appeal in the market, having recently been a key player for Borussia Dortmund, even reaching the UEFA Champions League final. Potential moves could see him join Saudi Arabia’s Pro League or MLS.

Reminder: Joining Roma marked Hummels' first stint outside Germany. Previously, he played exclusively for Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. Throughout his career, he has won the German championship five times, lifted the DFB-Pokal three times, and claimed the German Super Cup five times. Internationally, he was part of the Germany squad that won the 2014 World Cup.
