Roma's head coach, Ivan Juric, has clarified why experienced defender Mats Hummels has not featured in the team's lineup.

Details: The coach insists that his consistent decision not include the German national team legend and former Borussia Dortmund player from the starting XI is a tactical choice and that he is unfazed by Hummels' impressive resume.

Quote: “I select the lineup based on what I see in training. Those who inspire the most confidence in me play. Age and resume don’t matter; this is a technical choice.

Ermosa also hasn’t had many opportunities, despite his experience at Atlético Madrid. Ndicka can become a top player on the right side of the defensive trio. Tomorrow he will face a tough test against Moise Kean. There are no other reasons; it’s purely a technical decision,” Juric said to TMW.

Reminder: Hummels joined Roma as a free agent in early September after his contract with Borussia Dortmund expired at the end of the 2024-25 season.

For the 35-year-old, the Italian capital club is his first foreign team, having previously spent his career exclusively between two giants of German football: Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.

The 2014 World Cup winner has yet to play a single minute in official matches since joining, despite Roma having played eight games in Serie A and the Europa League since then.
