Ange Postecoglou wasn't afraid to make a bold move at a critical moment in the match.

Details: Al-Nassr head coach Ange Postecoglou commented on his decision to substitute team captain Cristiano Ronaldo at halftime during the third round of the Saudi Pro League against Al-Ittifaq. The Riyadh club were reduced to ten men as early as the 13th minute after goalkeeper Bento was sent off and trailed 0-2 at the break. During halftime, the Australian tactician took the Portuguese forward off, bringing on midfielder Abdullah Al-Khaibari, after which the team pulled off a sensational comeback to snatch a 3-2 victory.

"We had to win. The defenders were paying special attention to him, so at halftime I spoke to Cristiano and explained my reasoning. There are no injury concerns. It was purely a tactical decision. Sometimes, for the good of the team, you have to make tough calls—even if it means substituting a player who can change the game at any moment."

The coach also highlighted the professionalism of the 41-year-old striker:

"He always tries to help the team in every possible way. He's a true professional, he understood everything, and I'm very glad to be able to coach him. Now we'll focus on the next match."

It's worth noting that the goal Ronaldo scored against Al-Riyadh in the previous round was the 977th official goal of his professional career. The Portuguese veteran needs just 23 more to reach the legendary 1,000-goal milestone. According to Transfermarkt, the striker's market value stands at 10 million euros.
