Yesterday, during the qualifying session for the Austrian Grand Prix, Red Bull driver Yuki Tsunoda made some inappropriate remarks over the radio.

After being overtaken in the pit lane by Sauber driver Guanyu Zhou, Tsunoda lost his composure and said over the radio:

"These guys are f***ing idiots."

This remark was quickly noticed and spread on social media, eventually reaching the International Automobile Federation (FIA), which decided to launch an investigation.

According to Motorsport, the FIA accused Tsunoda of ableism, a form of discrimination where people without health problems are considered normal and superior to those with disabilities, leading to prejudice against the latter.

Following the investigation, it was decided to fine the Red Bull driver €40,000. It is worth noting that Tsunoda can get €20,000 back at the end of the season if this incident remains the last of its kind.

Tsunoda subsequently issued an apology to his fans and competitors. On his Instagram page, he wrote:

"Hello.

I want to offer my deepest apologies for what I said over the radio today. It was clearly unintentional, and I had no understanding of the true meaning of what I said.

I now have a better understanding of the significance of this word, and I deeply regret my comments. Such language has no place in our sport and should not be tolerated. I am truly sorry."

In the Austrian Grand Prix qualifying results, Yuki Tsunoda finished in fourteenth place, with the top three being Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, and George Russell.
