Today, a regular season match of the MLS took place, with Inter Miami visiting New York City.

The absence of the main stars of the team, David Beckham, and of the entire North American championship, Lionel Messi, was once again noted by fans on the field. The Argentine continues to recover from a right Achilles tendon injury.

Despite the absence of the Barcelona legend, Inter Miami was considered the favorite in the match, a notion validated as early as the fifteenth minute when Luis Suarez skillfully headed the ball into the opponent's penalty area after a cross from Julian Gressel from a set-piece.

However, the hosts' lead was short-lived. In the 34th minute, another former Barcelona star, Sergio Busquets, failed to connect with his teammate in their own half, conceding possession to the opponent. The guests capitalized on this mistake and equalized thanks to Alonso Martinez's goal.

Statistically, Inter Miami had the upper hand. They held 53% of possession, took thirteen shots on goal, six of which were on target, yet it was insufficient to regain the lead.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, and Inter Miami once again dropped points in the current MLS season.

After seven matches, Inter Miami has accumulated only eleven points, placing them second in the Eastern Conference standings. However, should all their pursuers win, Messi's team could drop to eighth place.

Lionel Messi misses his fourth consecutive match for his team in the MLS, last appearing in the championship on March 2nd when Inter Miami defeated Orlando City thanks to a brace from the Argentine.
