Legendary former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, who had been managing Plymouth, has now parted ways with the club after a mutual decision by the board.

Details: The club officially announced that the contract was terminated by mutual consent. Alongside Rooney, assistant manager Mike Phelan and first-team coach Simon Ireland are also leaving the club. Rooney expressed his gratitude to Plymouth and its fans.

Quote: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank the board of Plymouth Argyle Football Club, particularly Simon Hallett and Neil Dewsnip, with whom I had a great relationship. I also want to thank all the staff who made the club such a special place, the players, and the fans for their efforts and support during my time as head coach. I wish them all the best for the future," Rooney said.

Reminder: Rooney took over at Plymouth in May 2024. Plymouth has now gone nine matches without a win, with six losses and three draws.

In their last two games, they suffered defeats by a combined score of 0-6. The team currently sits at the bottom of the Championship table, with just 18 points from 23 matches.
