The real reason for Usyk's detention has become known
The main story from last evening was the sensational arrest of heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk at Krakow Airport. Only today have the reasons for the Ukrainian boxer's detention been revealed.
Details: According to ESPN, an airline employee denied boarding to Usyk and his trainer, Serhiy Lapin, deeming them unfit to fly.
Usyk and Lapin attempted to explain that their condition was due to exhaustion from a grueling 14-hour journey from Kyiv. However, due to a language barrier, staff interpreted the athlete’s behavior as overly aggressive.
Reminder: Usyk was held in custody for less than an hour and released after the situation was clarified, which the boxer confirmed on his Instagram page.
In May this year, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury in a fight for the undisputed heavyweight title. A rematch between the two is scheduled for December 21, with both fighters beginning intensive preparations.
