The PSG goalkeeper has been sued by his assistant. We explain what the reason is
PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas is facing legal troubles as his former assistant has filed a lawsuit against the Costa Rican player.
According to AS, the assistant worked for Navas 90 hours a week without a contract, receiving €3,200 a month in cash, and was offered a damp, windowless basement for accommodation. Additionally, Navas did not register his assistant in the French social security system during the 20 months of employment.
Navas allegedly forced the assistant to carry a weapon, which the Costa Rican used for entertainment in his home's courtyard. When the assistant requested to regularize his status, Navas responded, "Here we do not work under French law. We work by my rules. No French contract. I pay you in cash."
"We are on the verge of criminal law with facts that, in my opinion, border on modern slavery. Even if you are a football star, you do not have the right to exempt yourself from all rules," said the plaintiff's lawyer, Me Yassine Yakouti.
It should be noted that Keylor Navas, the legendary goalkeeper of the Costa Rican national team, will leave PSG as a free agent this summer, as the parties have decided not to extend the contract.
