Today will see one of the central matches in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup. Manchester United will host Liverpool at Old Trafford.

The Merseysiders have been actively contending for trophies this season, and the race has intensified following Jurgen Klopp's sensational decision to leave the team at the end of the season. Liverpool is determined not to let him go easily and aims to win all possible trophies.

Manchester United, on the other hand, pursues a different goal, with the FA Cup remaining their only viable option to win any tournament this season. They were knocked out of the EFL Cup after a defeat to Newcastle (0:3), and they finished at the bottom of their group in the Champions League. Their Premier League victory seems highly unlikely.

This was precisely what Manchester United's head coach, Erik ten Hag, emphasized during the press conference before the match. When asked if he believed his players could salvage the season for him in the coming weeks, he replied:

"I think we have to salvage the season."

He added:

"But we know we have ground to make up in the Premier League, but now we have a chance to win a trophy. The only chance is the FA Cup, so we are just three wins away, but they are important games, and we need to perform as best as we can.

Sunday is a test for us, but we like tests, and we can be somewhat relaxed because we believe in ourselves. But on Sunday, we have to prove it."

Ten Hag spoke calmly and confidently, while the club's new owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, appears more concerned with efforts to restore United to the summit of English and European football.
