The former Chelsea manager and player, Frank Lampard, may take over the coaching at Charlotte in MLS, as reported by The Athletic.

According to sources, besides Lampard, they are also considering Dino Smith's candidacy. The club is currently conducting interviews with candidates, including the higher mentioned ones. Both British specialists are currently unemployed.

Frank Lampard's last club was Chelsea, where he served as the interim head coach. Previously, he also coached Everton and Derby. As for Smith, on April 10, 2023, the 52-year-old coach took charge of Leicester but couldn't save it from relegation in the Premier League and left the club at the end of the season. He had also managed Norwich, Aston Villa, Brentford, and Walsall before.

The previous coach of Charlotte was Italian Christian Lattanzio. In the previous season, the team finished in 9th in the Eastern Conference of MLS, and in the wild-card playoff round, they lost to the New York Red Bulls with a score of 2-5.
