The England leader revealed how he coped with the pressure before the penalty shootout
The England national team clinched a spot in the European Championship semi-finals by defeating Switzerland in a highly tense match. The English team proved more accurate in the penalty shootout.
In both the match and the penalty shootout, Bukayo Saka scored for England. The Arsenal winger shared how he handled the pressure of taking a penalty after his miss in the Euro 2020 final.
"I handle penalty pressure well. Sometimes you fail, but I am one of those who want to put themselves forward again and make things right.
I know many people, including my family, are watching us. They were all anxious, but I stayed calm and scored," Saka told UEFA.
Interestingly, this was only the second time in 10 penalty shootouts at major international tournaments that England converted 100% of their penalties.
In the semi-finals of the current tournament, Gareth Southgate's team will face the winner of the Netherlands vs. Romania match.
