A major problem is brewing for Mikel Arteta just months into Arsenal's title defence.

Details: According to TEAMtalk journalist Graeme Bailey, Viktor Gyokeres is ready to quit Arsenal and push for a January transfer. The Swedish striker is reportedly increasingly frustrated by his lack of Premier League starts and has begun questioning his long-term future at the Emirates.

The report claims that intermediaries are already assessing possible destinations ahead of the winter window. Atletico Madrid remain interested, while clubs from the Premier League, Italy and Germany are also monitoring the situation.

Arsenal could also be prepared to consider his departure as the club continue to explore the market for another forward. Kai Havertz is currently Arteta's preferred option in attack, while the Gunners retain a strong interest in Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez.

Gyokeres' situation is particularly striking because he continues to perform for Sweden, but has yet to start a Premier League match this season. It is worth noting that the 28-year-old has made three league appearances for Arsenal in the 2026/27 campaign, all from the bench, without scoring or providing an assist.
