Details: After announcing his decision to leave Camp Nou, Roberto received various offers. According to the player, these offers came from Spain, the Middle East, other European countries, as well as Serie A and the Premier League.
However, after speaking with Como's new coach, Cesc Fàbregas, Roberto decided to join his team.
Quote: “It’s a great honor for us to have him as our coach.
He was one of the best players in the world, and now I can’t wait to start my adventure alongside him. He’s just beginning his coaching career, and I’m confident we’ll help each other in many ways.
I had offers from Spain, the Middle East, other European countries, as well as Serie A and the Premier League. But after my first conversation with Fàbregas, I understood how ambitious this club is.
The goal is to remain in Serie A, but I appreciate that Cesc and the club have big ambitions. His coaching influenced my decision, and equally important, Como is one of the most beautiful places in the world,” Roberto said to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Reminder: Cesc Fàbregas has been with Como since last year. On July 1, he was appointed as the coach of the U-19 team, and by November 13, he had been promoted to interim head coach. After Osian Roberts was appointed to that role, Fàbregas became his assistant. Following the team's success, in which Fàbregas played a significant role, Como officially appointed him head coach on July 19, 2024, with a four-year contract.
