The Arsenal coach played his 200th match with the team and set a club record
Yesterday, in the thirteenth round of the Premier League, Arsenal narrowly defeated Brentford (1-0) on the road. Kai Havertz scored the sole goal of the match in the 89th minute. This victory, coupled with the draw between Manchester City and Liverpool, allowed Arsenal to take the lead in the Premier League standings.
For Arsenal's head coach, Mikel Arteta, this match marked his 200th in charge of the team. After the game, he expressed gratitude for the support received.
"I love winning. Being at the top of the table is where we belong. This was also a special day for me – 200 games, and I want to thank everyone. The support makes my job so enjoyable."
Furthermore, Arteta surpassed a club record, with Arsenal securing 116 victories out of 200 matches under his management. The previous record belonged to the legendary Arsène Wenger, who won 111 in his first 200 matches.
Mikel Arteta took over Arsenal on December 19, 2019, and during this tenure, the club managed to secure the FA Cup (2019/20) and twice the FA Community Shield (2020, 2023).
