Haaland's goal didn't help. Man City and Liverpool played out a draw
The English Premier League returned after the international break with a match involving the first and second teams of the current season: Manchester City hosted Liverpool.
Josep Guardiola's "Citizens" were considered favourites in the pair. As if proving this status, City scored in the first half: Merseyside goalkeeper Alisson made a mistake when throwing the ball in from his penalty area, the hosts quickly played an attack, which was completed by Erling Haaland. The goal helped the Norwegian set another record: the forward is the fastest in league history to score 50 goals (48 games). The previous record holder was Andy Cole (65 matches).
Liverpool did not let up and did not lose hope to score today. However, the visitors had almost no chances to score. And yet, before the final whistle, Liverpool managed to find their chance: Trend Alexander-Arnold from the Man City penalty area hit Ederson.
Man City maintain a one point lead over Liverpool in the table after this match. However, Arsenal are two points behind the Citizens, while Tottenham are three points behind. Thus, already today, Josep Guardiola's team can lose the leadership in the table.
Next week, Man City and Liverpool will first play UEFA Champions League matches. On 3 December in the English Premier League, the Citizens will again face Tottenham at home, while Liverpool will also face Fulham at home.
