The 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs have achieved the highest television viewership since 1996

The 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs are nearing their conclusion. On Sunday, June 9th, the first game of the final series between the Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers will take place.
Statistics show that this year's playoffs have been the most-watched in the United States since 1996, through the first three rounds, reports NHL Public Relations. Additionally, the conference finals have seen a 34% increase in viewership compared to last year.
While the final series has yet to commence, a record has already been set. It's the distance between the two cities—Sunrise and Edmonton—measuring 4089 kilometers, marking the greatest distance between cities competing in the finals.
Additionally, the Oilers and Panthers will face each other for the first time in a final, contending for the NHL's top prize. The first match of the final series will take place on the night of June 9th.
For Edmonton, this marks their first Stanley Cup Final since 2006, when they lost to Carolina 3-4. Florida enters their second consecutive Stanley Cup Final appearance, having lost to the Vegas Golden Knights 1-4 last year.
