Taiwo Awoniyi Scores as Nottingham Forest Thrash Tottenham 3-0 in Relegation Battle

Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi netted his second Premier League goal of the season as Nottingham Forest secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, deepening Spurs’ relegation worries.

Tottenham began the match brightly and looked the more dangerous side in the opening half, striking the crossbar twice during a dominant spell. However, their inability to convert chances proved costly, as Igor Jesus headed Forest into the lead just before halftime.

Forest built on their advantage in the second half, with Morgan Gibbs-White calmly finishing to double the lead shortly after the hour mark. The goal effectively put the game beyond Tottenham.

Awoniyi then came off the bench to seal the victory with a late tap-in, capping an impressive performance from the visitors. After scoring, the Nigerian forward removed his shirt to reveal the message, “God is the Greatest,” in celebration.

The win lifts Nottingham Forest to 16th place with 32 points from 31 matches, moving them two points clear of Tottenham, who sit 17th on 30 points.
