American surfer Jorge Alvarado tragically died from a severe head injury. He was 49 years old.

Details: On September 13, a devastating accident occurred. South of the Sanglow Pier in Daytona Beach, Alvarado struck his head and became entangled in the pier's supports. It took bystanders several minutes to free the surfer before he was rushed to the nearest hospital and placed on life support.

In related news: An Olympic athlete who was doused with gasoline and set on fire has died in the hospital. The incident took place at Rebecca's home during a dispute with her boyfriend, Dixon, over a parcel of land.

The athlete was rescued by nearby neighbors who heard the altercation. Both parties involved in the conflict were taken to Eldoret's hospital with burns, with Cheptegei suffering from burns covering 75% of his body.
