Rebecca Cheptegei, a participant in the 2024 Paris Olympics, was admitted to the hospital with severe injuries.

According to the Uganda Athletics Federation, the athlete’s boyfriend doused her with gasoline and set her on fire. As a result, she sustained numerous injuries and is currently hospitalized.

The Endebes police reported that the incident occurred at Rebecca Cheptegei’s home during an argument between her and her boyfriend, Dixon, over a piece of land.

The athlete was rescued by neighbors who heard the altercation. Both parties involved in the conflict were taken to Eldoret Hospital with burn injuries, with Cheptegei suffering 75% body coverage.

It is worth noting that Rebecca Cheptegei represented Uganda in the women’s marathon at the Olympics, finishing 44th in the final with a time of 2:32:14, which was her best time of the 2024 season.

Additionally, several members of Ghana’s football coaching staff were recently involved in a car accident.
