Steve Barker to change Stellenbosch FC approach to their Betway Premiership matches after suffering seventh loss against Siwelele FC
Expect a different approach to Betway Premiership matches from Stellenbosch FC going forward. This is according to the club coach, Steve Barker, who saw his side lose their seventh match of the season against Siwelele FC last night.
“There's a saying that you can't keep doing the same things over and over and expect different results, so right now we have to find ways to do things differently," said Barker on SABC Sport.
"Whether that's just our approach off the field, or coaching sessions, or just selection of the team and formations, we just have to freshen up the team.”
Tebogo Potsane and Siviwe Magidigidi scored the goals for the Mangaung side in the 2-0 victory at Athlone Stadium.
Stellenbosch, despite being in Caf Confederation Cup group stages, are second from bottom in the Betway Premiership standings.
Barker said, contrary to popular belief, that Caf matches are taking a toll on them, he actually thinks they will need to use the continental games as a stepping stone to their local dominance again.
"I think this break is really needed, we go into our CAF games next and sometimes people look at that and say, 'Maybe that's the reason why you're struggling in the league,'” he said.
"But I want to try and use the CAF to get us going again, and get our belief and positivity back by using that as a catalyst to jump start our league."
