Spain’s plan to bring Yamal back has been revealed
Lamine Yamal picked up an injury toward the end of the 2025/26 season, and while his recovery is already underway, the Spanish national team have now outlined their strategy for his return.
Details: According to Mundo Deportivo, the medical staff of Spain national football team are targeting the winger’s comeback for the clash against Uruguay national football team. That fixture is Spain’s third group-stage match, and the coaching staff see no reason to take unnecessary risks by fielding him in the opening games.
Spain will begin their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Cape Verde national football team before facing Saudi Arabia national football team. Only in the third round will they take on Uruguay.
It had previously been reported that the 18-year-old FC Barcelona star is highly likely to miss Spain’s opening World Cup fixtures.
Reminder: Another Spanish forward is currently suspected of suffering a fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. He will undergo further medical examinations, and if the diagnosis is confirmed, it could deliver another major setback for Spain’s tournament preparations.
