De la Fuente's current deal runs until the end of Euro 2028. Now, the federation intends to extend his contract by another two years and improve his financial terms. Negotiations are expected to begin after the summer period ends.
Federation president Rafael Lusán wants De la Fuente to be the man in charge for the 2030 World Cup, which Spain will co-host with Portugal and Morocco.
It's worth noting that under Luis de la Fuente, the Spanish national team has won the Nations League, the European Championship, and the World Cup. These achievements have made the 65-year-old the most decorated coach in the national team's history.
