Southgate has taken England to the Euro semi-finals as many times as all coaches combined

The England national team won their penalty shootout against Switzerland to secure a spot in the Euro 2024 semi-finals.
Regular and extra time ended in a 1:1 draw, with goals from Embolo and Saka. In the penalty shootout, the English converted all five of their shots, while Switzerland missed one, allowing England to advance.
Gareth Southgate has led England to the semi-finals of the European Championship for the second time, equaling the number of semi-final appearances by all previous England managers combined.
Before Southgate, the "Three Lions" had reached the semi-finals of the Euros only twice, in 1996 and 1968, finishing as bronze medalists both times.
It is worth noting that under Southgate's leadership, England reached the final of Euro 2020, where they lost to Italy.
In the semi-finals of the current tournament, England will face the winner of the Netherlands vs. Turkey match.
