South African coach Hugo Broos admits to 'lying' to protect his Bafana Bafana players
Hugo Broos disclosed he lied to protect the Bafana Bafana players from criticism.
The Belgian coach said it is not his job to take jibe at his players in front of the media.
This was after last week's 2-0 loss against Mexico in the World Cup opening game at the Azteca Stadium.
“The mistakes we made in the first game… some people said the coach is too soft on his players but I don’t blame players in front of the camera, sometimes you have to lie a bit as a coach, and that’s what I did,” said Broos.
“We know what went wrong against Mexico and we will try to improve that tomorrow, we can improve, especially with the ball — and then we can win the game.”
This evening Bafana face Czechia at Atlanta's Mercedes Benz Stadium where Broos and his men are expected to fight for maximum points.
A win for Bafana could spare everyone from his ‘lies’.
The match starts at 6pm South African time.
