Slovakia born coach Josef Vukusic believes South Africa can cause an upset to beat Czechia tomorrow
Slovakian coach Josef Vukusic is confident South Africa can match and beat Czechia in tomorrow's World Cup match.
Vukusic, who worked in South Africa's PSL before, said as much as Czechia are also a good side but their sharpness can never match that of the South Africans at full strength.
Czechia and Bafana face each other tomorrow at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in World Cup Group A's second round of matches having both lost their opening group games.
Czechia lost 2-1 to South Korea while Bafana lost 2-0 to Mexico.
“The Czechia team is more experienced and better internationally, but the African mentality is unpredictable. It is an important match for both, perhaps a decisive one in terms of progress,” said Vukusic in an interview with CTK, as quoted by Livesport.
“The Czechs are also the favourite for me, but a performance like against the Koreans may not be enough if Bafana Bafana shows up at full strength.”
The elusive win for Bafana is likely to reignite their World Cup journey as they looked dejected after the Mexico loss at the Azteca Stadium, a week ago today.
The game at Athlanta's Mercedes Benz Stadium starts at 6pm South African time.
