Yesterday, it was announced that Jamaican three-time Olympic champion and eleven-time world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce withdrew from the competition due to a hamstring injury.

Today, Jamaican fans faced another disappointment. Shericka Jackson, who was set to compete in the 200m race, withdrew just minutes before the start. The exact reason for her withdrawal remains unknown.

Previously, Jackson had pulled out of the 100m race to focus on the 200m event. Now, with her withdrawal from the second discipline, questions arise about her participation in the 4x100m relay.

Shericka Jackson is the Olympic champion in the 4x100m relay at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. She has also claimed first place at the World Championships in the 4x400m relay in Tokyo 2015, the 4x100m relay in Doha 2019, the 200m in Oregon 2022, and the 200m in Budapest 2023.

Currently, Jamaica is in 45th place in the 2024 Olympic medal table, with only one silver and one bronze medal.
