Iran’s preparations for the start of the 2026 World Cup have been overshadowed by a dramatic incident. In close proximity to the team’s training base in Tijuana, Mexico, a body showing signs of violent death was discovered.

According to TyCSports, the incident occurred near the complex where the Iranian delegation is staying. Security personnel noticed a strong unpleasant odor, and during a routine inspection of the area, they came across a body in an advanced state of decomposition.

Reports indicate that the remains were found inside a pickup truck with American license plates, parked not far from the base. Preliminary data revealed clear evidence of violent death on the body, prompting police to launch an investigation.

After the discovery, authorities quickly cordoned off the area and began investigative proceedings. As a result, players and coaching staff of the Iranian national team were temporarily forced to leave the training camp grounds.

It’s worth noting that the Iranian team was already facing unusual circumstances during the tournament. Due to political tensions between Iran and the United States, the federation decided to set up the national team’s base in Mexico.

In the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, Iran will compete in Group G alongside New Zealand, Belgium, and Egypt. The team will play its opening match on June 15.
