"She’s special": Victor Boniface opens up about the most important person in his life
Nigerian forward Victor Boniface, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen, shared heartfelt remarks about the most important person in his life—his grandmother, reports Pulse Nigeria.
In an interview with journalist Oluwashina Okeleji, Boniface explained why his grandmother holds a special place in his heart. He revealed that she raised him, making her the most significant influence in his life.
Boniface also weighed in on the African Player of the Year award, expressing his belief that this year’s honor will go to Ademola Lookman of Atalanta. Lookman, another Nigerian star, won the Europa League last season with the Italian club, scoring a hat-trick in the final against Boniface’s Bayer Leverkusen.
On the international stage, Nigeria suffered a 1-2 loss to Rwanda yesterday in an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier. Boniface was substituted in the 89th minute without finding the net. Since making his debut for Nigeria on September 10, 2023, he has yet to score in an official match for the national team.
Despite the setback, Nigeria topped their AFCON qualifying group with 11 points, securing their place in the tournament's main event.
