Senegal lose to the United States in a friendly
Despite Sadio Mane, the Lions of Teranga were unable to avoid defeat in Charlotte.
A setback for Senegal in their first international friendly ahead of the World Cup. Against the United States, Pape Thiaw’s side could not do any better. They were dominated from the opening minutes of the match.
Sergino Dest opened the scoring for the United States in the 7th minute, making it 1-0, before Christian Pulisic doubled the lead in the 20th minute to make it 2-0.
However, Senegal fought back thanks to Sadio Mane. The Senegalese striker narrowed the gap before half-time, scoring in the 44th minute to make it 2-1. After the break, Mane levelled the score, finding the net again in the 52nd minute to make it 2-2.
But Team USA had not had their final say. Florian Balogoun popped up in the 63rd minute to restore the United States’ lead, 3-2. Senegal were unable to do anything about it until the final whistle.
