Senegal beat Peru at the Stade de France
The Lions of Teranga secured a fine victory in a festive atmosphere on Saturday 28 March.
Pape Thiaw and his team put in a strong performance in their first match since the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Supporters turned out in force to celebrate the African title, and the Senegalese team did not disappoint on the pitch. Against Peru, Senegal dominated proceedings.
The Lions of Teranga took the lead in the first half. Nicolas Jackson finished off a perfect cross from Ibrahim Mbaye in the 41st minute to open the scoring. The two teams then went into the break with the score at a narrow 1-0. Senegal sealed their victory in the second half thanks to Ismaila Sarr. The Senegalese striker made the most of a favourable counter-attack to double the Lions of Teranga’s lead. At the final whistle, Senegal won 2-0, getting their preparations for the 2026 World Cup off to a perfect start.
The Senegalese national team will play their second friendly match against Gambia during this international break. The match is scheduled for 31 March in Diamniadio.
